HP Printer may not connect to the computer due to various reasons. If you have connected the printer to a wireless network, the printer may lose its connection and go offline if the network is unstable or not available.

- Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool, and install it on your computer.
- Diagnose the printer using the tool.
- Examine the diagnosed report displayed on the tool and fix the issue as per the instructions.
- Reset the printer if the issue persists.
- Click Devices and Printers on your Windows operating system and set the printer as default.
- Connect the printer to a stable wireless network.
- Reinstall the printer driver if the issue remains unsolved.
- Update the printer firmware.
Descriptive steps for fixing the connectivity issue
- Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the manufacturer’s website. Open the downloads folder, run the HPPS.exe file and click Start once the application opens.
- Click Yes if a screen prompts you to turn on the printer updates or set the printer as default. If the printer continues to remain offline, follow the steps below.
- Switch off the printer and plug the power cord out from the printer’s rear after about 10 seconds. Remove the cord from the printer’s rear. Restart the computer and router connected to the printer.
- Connect the power cord back to the printer and turn the printer on if it doesn’t turn on automatically.
- Continue with the steps that follow if the printer continues to remain offline. Click Devices and Printers option on your Windows operating system.
- Give a right-click on the printer’s name which is active and select the Set as Default Printer option. Try to print.
- If the printer still could not be connected, click Programs on the control panel of your computer and uninstall the HP Printer software. Restart the computer.
- Click on the link provided on the page to get the latest version of the printer driver. Download the driver and run the setup files. Follow the prompts to complete the installation. Make sure you select the wireless connection type when prompted.
- Try to install the most recent version of the printer firmware from the manufacturer’s website. You can also update the printer’s firmware directly from the printer. Tap the HP ePrint icon followed by the Settings option on the control panel.
- Select the Product Update or Check Product Updates option. Agree to the terms of the service and enable Web services and set up automatic updates if prompted. Service the printer if the problem is not resolved.
