The most common reason why a networked Brother printer does not print is due to a bad connection between the computer and printer. This may happen as a consequence of incorrect print settings or faulty printer driver configuration.
How to troubleshoot Brother printer not printing issue
- Make sure that the status of your Brother printer is not paused, stopped, or offline.
- Verify that the connection between your Brother printer and computer.
- Check the printer driver and software settings.
- Try to print from some other application.
- Confirm that the settings in the application are correct and check if the issue still persists.
- Restart your Brother printer and the computer.
- Uninstall and reinstall the printer driver and software.
- Check whether the Device Manager identifies your Brother printer.
Fix Brother printer won’t print issues
- Confirm that you have turned On your Brother printer. Ensure that the LCD or LED screen of your printer does not display any error. If the Status LED is not lit, the Brother printer is powered Off.
- Make sure that you have plugged your printer into a working outlet. Turn On the power switch. Verify the LED for any error lights. If the LED displays an error message, troubleshoot it.
- If the error message persists, go to the Troubleshooting section and find a solution. Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable.
- Disconnect both your printer and PC and reconnect them after sometime. If you use a USB hub, unplug it and connect your printer directly to the PC.
- It is strongly recommended to use a USB cable that supports the upcoming requirements. A twisted pair USB cable which is shielded, and not longer than 6 feet.
- Confirm that you have connected the cable to the USB port on your printer and not Network port, Line Jack, Extension Jack, or PictBridge. Try to print from some other application.
- If you succeed to print from some other application, there is a problem in the application that you try to use. Check the settings in the application to resolve the issue.
- Turn Off your Brother printer and restart the PC. Turn On your Brother printer again. It is possible that you have not installed the printer driver and software properly.
- Uninstall and reinstall the printer driver and software. Verify that you have a secure connection between the Brother printer and the router or access point with an Ethernet cable.
- Reseat the power cable on both the access point and the Brother printer, if required. Attempt to print a test page and determine if the issue has been resolved.
