The Brother printer performs good quality Printing, Copying, and Scanning functions. Sometimes, a paper jam may occur due to improper handling of the papers or overloading of the input tray. The paper jam can be removed by following the steps given below.
QUICK INSTRUCTIONS FOR TROUBLESHOOTING PAPER JAM IN THE BROTHER PRINTER
- Open the Scanner glass window and look for any paper stuck inside the printer.
- Unplug the Brother printer from the power outlet and wait for sometime.
- Use your hands to push the printhead gently to one corner.
- Remove any ripped paper from the printer.
- Close the paper support flap and remove the paper input tray out of the Brother printer.
- Release the jammed paper by pulling the green levers of the printer.
- Remove all the jammed papers and make sure there are no bits of papers inside the printer.
- Switch On the printer by connecting the power cord to the power outlet.
DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR TROUBLESHOOTING PAPER JAM IN THE BROTHER PRINTER
- Open the Scanner lid present on the printer and examine if there are any jammed papers inside the printer. Use both the hands to open the Scanner cover.
- Avoid touching the internal parts while trying to remove the jammed papers from the printer. Touching them may lead to printer malfunction.
- If the ink in the printer cartridge accidentally falls on your skin while handling it, wipe it immediately and wash your hands.
- Locate the printhead in the printer and hold the Cancel menu continuously, until the printhead positions itself to the center of the printer.
- Switch off your Brother printer by disconnecting the power cord from the power supply.
- Gently take out the remaining papers by pushing the printhead with your hands. Tweezers are used to pull the jammed paper. Avoid touching or scratching the internal parts of the printer.
- After cleaning the jammed paper, use both the hands and slowly push the scanner glass inside and close it. Ensure that the scanner glass is closed firmly.
- Remove the entire paper input tray from the Brother printer. Pull out the green levers present inside the printer and release the jammed papers. Make sure that all the bits of paper are removed from the printer.
- Plug the printer’s power cord to the power supply directly and do not use adapters to connect the printer.
- Inserting a thick A4 sheet in the tray present at the rear of the printer will push out the jammed papers from the front opening. Open a sample document or photo and click print to print a test page.
