A process that is carried out to digitize an image or a text is knownas scanning. There are various apps and software that are used to do the scanning operation. Some of them are HP Scan and Capture app, HP Scan software, and HP Smart application.
Scan an image or a document using the HP Smart app:
- Download and then launch the HP Smart application from the Google Play Store or Apple Store.
- Open the file to make a print.
- Select Scan and the Scan menu appears on your Personal Computer.
- Modify the required settings such as file type and resolution that matches your scan job.
- Click Scan and a Preview window opens.
- Choose Edit to do any changes such as adding or removing borders.
- Select Apply and the saved changes display on the system.
- Save the scan and then choose OK.
Details Steps to Scan using HP Easy Scan (Mac) & HP Scan (Windows)
For Windows computers: Install the full feature driver package to carry out the scan operation using the HP Scan software. Open the scanner lid and then keep the photo or document facing down on it.
Close the scanner lid. Make sure to clean the scanner glass on a regular basis to avoid the issues in the scanning process. You can also utilize the ADF feature if your Officejet 6978 printer supports it. This lets you scan many pages continuously.
For printers that include a Scan button or a touch display with a Scan menu: Choose the name of your system and then select the type of scan task if instructed.
Wait for the scanning process to finish and then go back to your Personal Computer screen. Click on the file with Scan mentioned in its icon name to view the scan.
For HP printers that do not have a Scan button: Search for HP on your Windows computer and then choose the Scan a Document or Photo option. The HP Scan software window appears on your computer.
Do the necessary edits to the scan job such as resolution and color if required. Click the OK button or the Save icon to save the settings on your desktop.
For Mac PC’s: Download and then launch the HP Easy scan app from the Apple Store. Search for the scan on your Mac device and then select the HP Easy Scan application from the list of results.
Choose your Officejet Pro 8710 printer on the Scanner menu. Click the type of scan task from the Presets window and then select the Scan option. A thumbnail version of the scanned file will appear in the left pane of your Mac Computer.
Now select the Edit option to alter the colors, crop or straighten the scan. Choose the Send option that is available at the bottom right corner of your Mac system and then select Folder.
If required, modify the name of your scanned file in the Prefix field. Choose the Where option and click the correct folder to save the scan, and then select Save.
