The ink tank has to refilled when the ink level reached the lower line. Purchase ink bottles with the correct part number for the printer. Use of third-party ink may cause damage to the printer. The ink level in the ink tanks can be either checked from Windows/Mac, printer’s control panel or can be directly viewed on the ink tank.
Quick guide for refilling ink in Epson printer
- Power up the printer and your computer.
- Check the ink level from your computer.Note the tank that needs to be refilled.
- Lift the ink tank cover and open the cap of the ink tank to be refilled.
- Open the bottle ’s cap slowly.
- Pour the ink into the ink tank that is open.
- Close the ink tank cover and then the scanner unit.
- Reset the ink levels from the printer’s control panel.
- Print a test page to check the print quality.
Detailed instructions for refilling ink into the Epson ink tanks
- Get genuine ink bottles for Epson printer. Make sure the part number on the ink bottle is correct. Do not try to squeeze the bottle while refilling. The part number for Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow ink bottles is 502.
- Power on the printer and wait until it is silent. Now check the ink level on the printer. To view the ink level from the Windows operating system, give a double-click on the printer’s icon to open the Epson Status monitor window.
- View the ink levels displayed on the Window. If your computer runs on Mac, click the Apple menu and select the System Preferences option. Now click on Print and Fax, and select the printer’s name.
- Select Utility and open the Printer Utility window. Select Epson Status Monitor to view the ink level in each ink tank. Refill the empty tanks. Click Update to refresh the ink levels.
- Power on the Epson printer and wait for the initialization process to complete. Lift the scanner unit and then open the ink tank cover.
- Now lift the cap on the tank that you want to refill. Hold the ink bottle in an upright position and turn the bottle cap in the clockwise direction to remove it from the bottle. Do not squeeze the bottle or touch its top after removing the cap.
- Take the ink bottle towards the filling port and slant the bottle slowly into the port. The color of the ink tank can be identified by the color-coded label on the ink tank.
- The ink bottle should be upside down on the port. Wait until the entire ink gets drained into the tank. Once the ink level reaches the upper line, the ink flow will stop automatically.
- Remove the ink bottle and press the cap down. Repeat the steps to refill the other ink tanks. Close the ink tank cover and then close the scanner unit.
- Select the Maintenance option on the printer’s control panel and tap the Reset Ink Levels option. Follow the prompts appear on the screen to reset the ink level for refilled tanks.
