HP supports two different paper tray. Tray 1 is the place where we feed the printing sheets into the printer manually and tray 2 is the sheet that comes out of the printer as output. There are 6 paper trays in large printers.
Easy steps to replace the paper tray in HP printer
- Turn your HP printer On after connecting it to the direct power socket.
- Open the ink cartridge access door of your printer.
- Check if there are any paper jams and remove them.
- Close the cartridges access door.
- Access the purge unit of your printer.
- Remove paper bits and jams, if present.
- Check if your printer tray is feeding sheets into the printer.
- Buy a new paper tray from a trusted retailer or online store, if the above suggestions did not work.
Detailed steps to replace the paper tray of your printer
- Some HP printers will allow you to add extra paper trays to make your print job comfortable. This is because you need not add printing sheets frequently onto the input tray of your printer.
- You will have to replace the input tray if your printer has some printing papers fetching issues.
- Make sure you get the new input tray from an authorized and trusted online or retailer store. The tray should be appropriate to your printer model.
- Unplug the power cord and other connections from your HP printer.
- After receiving your paper tray, turn your printer’s bottom facing you. Pull the tray out. You can remove the output tray only after detaching the input tray.
- Locate the tabs on either side of your tray. Use a screwdriver to gently push the tabs. Now, lift the tray.
- By lifting your tray upwards, carefully pull it outwards. Now, your old tray will come out. Follow the mentioned below steps to attach the new tray.
- Remove the packaging from the new input tray. Be careful when you are removing the scotch tapes and other protective materials, else it can lead in cracking of the tray. Now, place the paper tray in its appropriate place by keeping the paper loading side facing the printer.
- Gently push it in and hold the tabs on either side of your printer. Use the screwdriver to press the tabs on either side. Try inserting the paper tray into the printer.
- Slowly push it in until it clicks into its appropriate place. After it sits comfortably in its place, perform all the necessary connections and turn On the power supply for your printer. Load HP recommended printing sheets properly into the input tray of your printer and try performing any of the printer function.
