Make sure you are installing the correct driver on the computer.

Try these steps if you are not able to install the printer driver on your Windows 7 computer. There can also be a technical failure in the printer. Make sure the Auto-off feature is disabled. If this is enabled, the printer turns off automatically when it is inactive for a period of time.
You can also change the settings from the HP Printer Assistant application on your computer.
Open the program and double-click on the Maintain your printer option. Press the Advanced Settings tab present in the Toolbox window. Change your required settings.
