Resolving paper tray issues on HP Photosmart 6520 printer
- Lift the output tray and extend the tray.
- Remove all the paper from the tray.
- Lower the output tray and press OK on the control panel. If the issue persists, proceed with the next step.
- Unplug the power wire from your printer’s rear and the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the cord to the printer and the outlet. Turn the printer on.
- Open the Copy menu and change the paper size and type to Automatic.
- Set the changes as new defaults.
- Service the printer if the issue remains unresolved.
Detailed instructions for fixing paper tray issues on HP Photosmart 6520 printer
- Power up the HP printer and wait until it becomes idle and silent. Pull the tray out and remove all the paper from the tray. Push the tray into the printer.
- Pull the output tray and press OK on the printer’s control panel. If the issue persists, go to the next step.
- Power off the HP printer and remove the power cord from the printer’s rear and the electrical wall outlet. Unplug the USB cable from the printer. Wait for at least thirty seconds and reconnect the cord to the printer and the outlet.
- Turn the printer on if it does not automatically power up. Plug the USB cable back to the printer.
- If the issue remains unresolved, clean the paper feed rollers. Open the cartridge access door and pull the cleanout door up and then out of the printer. Get a clean wet cotton swab and press it against the rollers. Rotate the roller to remove any dirt or dust buildup.
- Reinsert the cleanout door once the rollers are dry and close the ink cartridge access door. Print a test page to check whether the issue is resolved.
- Modify the copy options on the printer’s control panel. Open the Copy menu, select Paper size, and press OK. Now, navigate to the Automatic option and press OK again. Similarly, select the Paper Type option and set it to Automatic.
- Finally, select the Set as New Defaults option. Adjust the paper settings in the HP printer driver. Open the document you want to print and click File. Select Print followed by Properties.
- Click the Paper/Quality tab, select the Legal 8.5x14 inch paper size, and choose a paper type from the Media drop-down menu.
